Dog Grooming School FAQs: Everything You Need to Know Before You Enrol
Choosing to train as a professional dog groomer is a big decision. You want to know the training is good, the tutors know their stuff, and that the course will lead somewhere. Just as importantly, you want to know how you’ll pay for it.
We hear these questions every week at Four Paws Groom School, so we’ve answered the most common ones below.
How does Four Paws Groom School support students in launching their careers after graduation?
Our job doesn’t stop at teaching you to groom. Our iPET Network qualifications are designed to meet industry standards, and our tutors guide you in professional development as well as technique. That means you leave ready for the real-world challenges of a competitive industry, whether you plan to work in a salon, go mobile or open your own business.
Many of our students go on to do exactly that. Some even rent a table in our salon to get started.
Can I expect hands-on experience during my dog grooming training?
Absolutely. Practical training is at the heart of everything we do. You’ll work with the latest tools and equipment in our well-equipped, modern facilities, with real dogs, so you graduate with genuine confidence in your skills.
Our learners tell us this is what makes the difference. As one of our recent students put it, tutors are always around when you ask for help, but you’re given space to try things for yourself.
What sets Four Paws Groom School apart from other grooming schools?
It comes down to our commitment to excellence in training. We combine theory with hands-on learning, so you understand why you’re doing something as well as how to do it. You gain practical experience in a modern grooming environment, backed by nationally recognised iPET Network qualifications.
We also train across three schools, in Northwich, Cheshire, Ledbury, Herefordshire and Market Drayton, Shropshire, so you can choose the location that suits you.
Why should I choose Four Paws Groom School for my grooming training?
We’re known for comprehensive course delivery, experienced tutors and modern facilities. Our programmes give you well-rounded training, with the skills and knowledge for a successful career in pet grooming and other related animal care sectors.
Whether you’re a career changer, a parent returning to work or a lifelong animal lover finally following a dream, you’ll find a supportive, friendly environment here. Many students describe us as feeling like a little family.
You can explore everything we offer on our courses page.
How experienced are the instructors at Four Paws Groom School?
Our tutors are seasoned professionals with extensive experience in the pet grooming industry, and in teaching too. They bring real salon knowledge and practical insight to the classroom, and they offer personalised guidance and mentoring so every student can achieve their qualification.
How can I pay for a dog grooming course? Is funding available?
This is one of the most common questions we get, and we’ll be honest with you. Funding options for dog grooming courses are limited. Most Level 2 and Level 3 grooming qualifications aren’t eligible for government Student Loans at private training providers, grants are rare and competitive, and there’s no universal funding system. Most learners are self-funded.
That’s why we’ve partnered with credit broker Ideal4Finance to help you spread the cost. There are two options:
Option 1: 0% APR finance (courses over £1,000 including VAT)
You can spread the cost over 12, 24 or 36 months at 0% APR. As a representative example, a £5,388 purchase (the iPET Network Level 3 Diploma in Dog Grooming and Salon Management) over 36 months would be 36 monthly repayments of £149.67, with a total amount payable of £5,388 and no interest. This option only covers the value of the course itself. You can work out your own repayments with the Ideal4Finance calculator.
Option 2: Loan for any course plus equipment
If you’d like to borrow for the full course fee plus extras like your grooming equipment, Option 2 is the better fit. You choose a term of 1 to 5 years, and lenders provide quotes based on your circumstances.
Both options are subject to status, and the application is quick and completed online. You can find full details and the step-by-step process on our course funding page.
Ready to take the first step?
If you’ve been dreaming of a career working with dogs, the cost doesn’t have to be the thing that holds you back. Take a look at our courses, explore your funding options, or get in touch and our team will be happy to talk you through it.
There are risks involved in taking out a loan. Please ensure you can make all repayments on time and in full, as failure to do so can lead to financial difficulties and affect your credit score. Finance is available subject to status, and the rate offered is always provisional.
