About this course
The iPET Network Level 3 Award in Microchip Implantation for Pet Animals qualification has been developed in response to legislative changes including the compulsory microchipping of dogs and cats. During the day course you will cover microchip technology, scanning and implantation equipment, handling and restraint of animals, pre and post implantation procedures and implantation of a microchip in pet animals, leaving us qualified to perform microchipping in the UK.
This qualification is in line with current legislation from England, Wales and Northern Ireland which covers both micro chipping of dogs, cats, ferrets, rabbits or other species not covered under the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966 and the commercial and non-commercial movement of pet animals.
The training is a balance of theoretical and practical learning to microchip pet animals, as such 2 non-chipped animals are required to complete the assessment which the learner must source and bring for the assessment to be completed. We suggest contacting local breeders who can produce young animals who require a chip.
The iPET Network Level 3 Award in Microchip Implantation for Animals has been approved by the Animal and Plant Health Agency (DEFRA) Secretary of State under regulation 9(1)(c) of The Microchipping of Dogs (England) Regulations 2015 to provide training for the implantation of microchips.
