Welcome to a grooming show with a twist. No, more than that; a grooming show with a twist, spin and flip!
Four Paws are thrilled to be hosting The Groom Hub @ The Family Pet Show which is the largest indoor pet show all visitors (not just competitors) can take their pets to. The show is into its 5th year being held at Event City in Manchester (opposite The Trafford Centre) and boasts a footfall of nearly 15,000 people across the weekend. This year’s show is being held on Saturday 30th September and Sunday 1st October and is set to be bigger and better than ever with trade stalls, famous faces and even the North West Scrufts heat.
The Groom Hub is a chance for us to have some real fun and show our profession to be as amazingly diverse as we know it is. Inside the hub you will find some fantastic trade stalls with all the products we know and love but also some innovative ideas, this is your chance to spice up your business with advice from those in the know. Ticket holders can take part in new activities, listen to some awesome guest speakers, review tools and equipment, try out new styling ideas, enter pressure free competitions, help us educate the public on coat care and even learn ways to boost business with only time investment!

Apprentice of the Year (Winners announced 1st October)
Get nominating your apprentice for the chance to win some amazing prizes and shout about how great it is to offer Apprenticeships! Four Paws in conjunction with Total People and Total Grooming Magazine want to recognise and reward an outstanding apprentice working in the animal industry. They could be on any course including Animal Care, Dog Grooming, Customer Services and Business Admin but must be training in an animal related business.
The entry fee for each nomination is £20.00 and once all entries have been received the voting will begin via the Total Grooming Magazine website. Four Paws Groom School Student Competition (Saturday 30th September)
A fun competition just for our students, no matter which course you took! Bring your fully prepped dog and style on the day – all breeds/techniques included. To secure your place at The Groom Hub please complete payment of £20.00 for your class entry fee and email sarah@fourpawsdogs.co.uk to confirm. The Winner will win a set of Wahl Acro trimmers.
The rules:
- Your dog must have at least 6 weeks growth on coat
- Hygiene, pads and nails can be completed before the competition
- Cordless clippers are required
- 2 hours of styling time
- Start time 10:30am and finish time 12:30pm
- Get your dogs booked in for their weekly bath, dry and comb out
Competition tips

- Everytime the dog is in go through in your head what you are doing on the dog and what tools you will need for that
- If you can do your final bath on the morning of the event, so as the coat will be so much easier to work on! But if you can’t don’t worry just make sure you do it as late as possible the day before
- Make sure it is squeaky clean and bone dry
- Pack your tools, table etc the day before you don’t want to be rushing around on the morning of the event. (A must is make sure Batteries are fully charged)
- Leave plenty of time to get to the venue so you can exercise your dog and take time to chill yourself
- You need to be at the venue and set up in the ring by 10:00am for prejudging
- Don’t be late as you will be flustered and that will rub off on your dog
Groomed to Vroomed Competition (Sunday 1st October)
Too nervous to groom at the show? Bring your ready groomed dog and showcase your talent without the pressure and nerves! All breeds/styles/techniques included. Limited numbers per class. This is a fantastic opportunity to obtain critic and feedback by some fabulous judges. To secure your place at The Groom Hub please complete payment of £20.00 for your class entry fee and email sarah@fourpawsdogs.co.uk to confirm. Winners will win an Open College Network West Midlands Level 3 Diploma in Dog Grooming Qualification fast track course worth £895 with Four Paws Groom School. Perfect for somebody who wants to be qualified or further prove their skill and gain a new qualification.

- Photographic evidence pre, during and post grooming (think selfie)
- Coat must be knot free at time of judging
