10 years of keeping tails wagging!!!

Hip hip hooray – this month is our birthday!  We are proud to be celebrating our 10th year in business this month and so have taken this opportunity to look back on how we became leaders in our field (which is now astro-turfed!)

Doggie Daycare
10 years ago, doggie daycare was a new idea and certainly not the ‘norm’. So much so, we were the first daycare to be licensed by Cheshire West and Chester Council.  Prior to us, there were no others to need a licence! Our daycare started as a dream for Fern and Fable (our founders).  This duo wanted to spend their days having fun in the sun and running in the rain so work began on a basic barn, yard and paddock set up for dogs to enjoy.  Having given up her day job, Fern had to make this idea work and promoted the need for daycare at lots of doggie events.  Word soon spread and before she knew it, Fern also had a house full of home boarding dogs too! She met some amazing people and pooches along the way, some of them we still work with (head to our Facebook page for our competition).  What made Four Paws special? The passion for all things canine which everyone in our team shares today.  We strive to keep improving our facilities whilst we build on our knowledge through education.  This enables us to offer a 5 star service for your pooch!

Grooming and Grooming Training School
We recognised quickly the need for a grooming service within the daycare and set off to be trained in the art.  We soon realised that more hands were needed to groom the numbers of dogs wanting a pamper and tried to hire more groomers.  This wasn’t an easy task with grooming being such a skilled job and instead we hired a grooming trainer to join Four Paws so all staff could be qualified.  Within 12 months Four Paws Groom School had students coming from all over the country wanting to be trained in the practical skill of dog grooming. Today, Four Paws Groom School operates from Leftwich and we have grooming salons in Cuddington, Barnton and Lymm.  A new training school has also opened in Kent as Four Paws breaks out of the county! All our salons offer pampering packages to suit any budget, with friendly, qualified and talented groomers. We developed a nationally recognised qualification with OCN and have become a prominent figure in the industry.

With a young family taking up the space, home boarding was no longer an option and plans were drawn up to add an overnight facility at our Cuddington HQ.  Our kennels offer 5 star accommodation for dogs of all shapes and sizes with every need catered to.  Dogs that enjoy company can spend 12 hours a day playing in daycare or those that like to run solo have 5+ walks a day in fully enclosed paddocks. With only 14 kennels onsite, we offer a personal and professional service that suits any precious pooch! We aim to reassure all those that ‘don’t like kennels’ and have an drop in and see policy, come and have a tour!

We are proud to have had some amazing people work across our businesses, each bringing something special to Four Paws.  Through our apprenticeship scheme we have given skills and qualifications that have opened doors and created opportunities for some very deserving people. We hope to share more stories from team members old and new this month!

At the 10 year mark, we have to celebrate all the wonderful dogs (and cats) we have had through our doors! Sadly, our pets are never here long enough but we have been blessed to meet some real characters and their dedicated people.  We hope to share some of our best photos throughout the month of pooches old and new having Four Paws fun!

Thank you to our fantastic and loyal customers, we are truly grateful for all the support you have given over the years. Here is to the next 10 years!
