At Four Paws Groom School, animal welfare is at the heart of everything we do. That’s why we are proud to work with Rachel Bean RVN, a highly respected Registered Veterinary Nurse, canine behaviourist, and international canine first aid educator.
With over 25 years of hands-on experience in veterinary nursing, dog behaviour training, and global animal welfare, Rachel brings unrivalled expertise to our students. Her training blends real-world clinical knowledge with a passion for ethical handling, ensuring our grooming graduates are confident, compassionate, and skilled.
A Career Dedicated to Veterinary Nursing & Animal Care
Rachel began her veterinary nursing journey in 1996, qualifying as an RVN in 2002. She has held senior roles including Joint Head Nurse at W A Lane Vets and Veterinary Nurse at Tameside Vets, where she specialised in:
- Emergency canine first aid
- Anaesthetic monitoring
- Surgical care and recovery
- Nurse-led clinics
Her clinical expertise is the foundation of her teaching, giving students at Four Paws Groom School access to accurate, up-to-date animal care knowledge.
Global Canine First Aid & Rescue Experience
Beyond the UK, Rachel has worked with international rescue organisations such as Soi Dog Foundation (Thailand), CARE Animal Shelter (India), Lanta Animal Welfare, and Jai Dog Rescue. She has trained shelter teams in:
- CPR & life-saving first aid
- Hydrotherapy and physiotherapy
- Behavioural assessment and handling
This global outreach means Rachel’s teaching covers real-life scenarios groomers may face, from minor cuts to life-threatening emergencies.
Educator, Assessor & Course Developer
Rachel has been a tutor for the Cambridge Institute of Dog Behaviour & Training since 2010 and has contributed to the iPET Network’s OFQUAL Level 3 and 4 Canine First Aid qualifications the same awarding body that regulates our Four Paws Groom School grooming courses.
Her online Canine First Aid & Wellbeing course focuses on practical, hands-on learning in a relaxed environment, preparing pet professionals for real emergencies.
Committed to the Highest Standards
In 2024, Rachel achieved the Recover Guidelines Rescuer Certification. An advanced, hands-on qualification in multi-person resuscitation. She actively promotes regular refresher training for all canine first aid educators to ensure skills remain sharp.
